Actors PLAYground is founded on the core values of COMMUNITY, GROWTH, CONFIDENCE, and PLAY.

COMMUNITY - Actors PLAYground will provide a nurturing, respectful, and safe space where all members feel comfortable and valued.  In this environment, members are empowered to take risks, try new things, and fearlessly express themselves.  When individuals feel empowered, they are inspired to share their powers and use them for the betterment of the community, within the theater, and beyond.

GROWTH - The true magic of theater is seen in the growth of young actors, on-stage, and more importantly, in their lives, off-stage.  Theater teaches skills that we use in every aspect of our life. From public speaking to personal connection, from self-esteem to self-expression, from problem-solving to creative inspiration…the opportunities for growth and learning are never-ending.

CONFIDENCE - Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — not in an arrogant way, but in a realistic, secure way.  Theater allows a child to demonstrate self-expression from their heart. It gives them a voice and teaches them that their thoughts and feelings are important.  I have witnessed countless young actors, even the most shy and timid child, beaming with pride after experiencing the thrill of a live performance.  This is the true magic of theater.

PLAY - George Bernard Shaw has a famous quote; “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing”.  In a world where technology is replacing personal connections, imaginative play happens less and less.  Adults and kids alike need healthy playtime!  In the theater, we encourage imaginative play to; create characters, tell stories, and perform…plays.  All this “playing” results in a whole lot of fun!
